I was very surprised to be shown this article in IEEE recently - an example of ableism:
"God's greatest wonderful gift to humanity is the ability to perceive and interact with the world around them. However, some people have lost this skill owing to accidents or congenital illnesses... This low-cost medical assistive gadget allows visually impaired people in the community to live a free and independent life rather than relying on others. Thus, this effort is a stride forward taken for the betterment of visually impaired individuals and to change their lifestyle."
