Today I provided the CVC Thursday Research Presentation. My topic was "Tips and Tricks for Writing Research CVs to Assist with Grant Writing"

Curriculum vitae (CV) is a Latin word meaning the course of one’s life. An academic’s CV is a comprehensive tool that enables a researcher to collect and analyse data about themselves to support their research endeavours. This workshop will encourage researchers to use their CV to document work that is:
Important 

• Changes lives: “Will this make a difference?”
• Generates new knowledge
• Is of national and international significance

The best you can do

• Collaborate when you don’t have the knowledge and methodological expertise

Targeted to specific audiences

• Reviewers, FOR codes, government

Invited presentation - ECR Grant Writing Program

Today I was an invited presenter at the CSU Early Career Researcher Grant Writing Program: Module 5.  I was invited by Dr Emmaline Lear to talk about Tips and Tricks on Research CVs. I received a nice email at the end of the presentation:

Presentation to the FoAE Internal Grant Writing Program 2024

Today I was invited to speak to participants in the FoAE Internal Grant Writing Program 2024 in the session titled Submitting your grant focusing on Tips & Tricks for Creating an Academic CV. The FoAE Internal Grant Writing Program includes practical guidance, expert mentoring and strategic advice to write a full draft internal grant proposal for the Faculty Early Career Research (ECR) Scheme (or a similar small grant). Here are the topics that have been covered: 

1. Introduction & Research Significance 
2. Aligning your research impact 
3. Refining your research design 
4. Costing a Budget 
5. Submitting your grant

FOSH Internal Grant Writing Workshops

This morning I presented a session at the Faculty of Science and Health Internal Grant Writing Workshop on writing a research CV. It was great to be part of their final session. Thanks Emmaline Lear and Julian Grant who coordinated the session.

New Faculty CV Writing Workshop Group

Today I started a new CV writing workshop group with another group of colleagues from the Faculty of Arts and Education. What collegial discussions we have had. The group voted to continue meeting regularly and had a list of topics to discuss. I'm looking forward to our next meeting.

SOTE CV writing workshop - March 2020

Today a group of staff from the CSU School of Teacher Education met with me to discuss their CVs. It was a supportive discussion to ensure that all of their experiences can be categorised and considered within an academic context, and to imagine next steps/opportunities to assist their growth. This group first met in February and will meet again in a month.

Curriculum vitae workshop #2

Today I ran another curriculum vitae writing workshop for academic staff in the School of Teacher Education at Charles Sturt University. It follows on from the one I ran for my SLM team a few weeks ago: https://speakingmylanguages.blogspot.com/2019/02/curriculum-vitae-workshop.html

I enjoy enabling academics to use their CVs to envision future possibilities and goals.

Curriculum vitae workshop

Today I ran a workshop for the early career researchers in the SLM team to support them to compile/write a curriculum vitae. We discussed how it is good to have a master file that you constantly update, then select items when you are required to submit a CV for different purposes.
Each participant also considered example CVs from the SLM team in order to look for gaps/opportunities to add to their own CVs. It was a very productive and collaborative session.
