It was wonderful to catch up with Prof Bronwyn Hemsley yesterday while she was visiting Bathurst. I was able to show her The Treehouse, talk about the Children's Voices Centre, and her new job as Head of the School of Health Sciences, University of Newcastle - starting in March.

The Speech Pathology Australia National Conference was a great time of connecting in person with my team (since we all live in different cities), as well as with friends and colleagues (old and new). I particularly enjoyed meeting current and past students and hearing about how they have been using our research and books in their work. I had many rich conversations and learned a lot.

It has been decided that our building at Charles Sturt University is going to be demolished because it contains asbestos. So, we all have to pack up our offices.
I have been in my office for 20 years. I have enjoyed the meetings and events that have been held in my office and the commaraderie with my students and colleagues in my corridor and building.
A lot of interesting books, documents and artefacts have been accumulated over the past 20 years. Some are easy to throw out, some are harder. Lots of things are still being used and will be transferred to my new office. I'm glad I will have lots of bookshelves as I have many children's speech resources from my ARC Future Fellowship purchased from all over the world in many different languages. Lots of memories of great people and events have been unearthed during the packing process.

Today I had the opportunity to pop in and visit my friend and colleague Dr Caroline Bowen. We had so much to chat about. It was great to see her.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit Professor Leanne Togher at the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health at The
University of Sydney. I really enjoyed catching up on our lives and research and sharing advice about grant writing and mentoring. I also had a chance to chat with Dr Liss Brunner and Dr Rebecca Sutherland.
This was the first time I had been invited to visit since I left in 1999. Over the past few years the department has moved from their campus in Lidcombe to the Broadway campus. I visited the new Susan Wakil Building and had a chance to view the 5th floor containing staff and student hotdesks and lockers (it is an open-plan building), simulation suite, and on-campus clinic.
