Multilingual Aspects of Children's Speech Sounds (2nd edition) has been submitted

Helen and I met with Brian Goldstein a few weeks ago when we were in the Washington DC at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) convention.

Multilingual Aspects of Children's Speech Sounds (2nd edition) - almost ready to submit

Our latest edited book, "Multilingual Aspects of Children's Speech Sounds (2nd edition)" is almost ready to submit to Multilingual Matters. The book is edited by Helen Blake, Kate Margetson, Brian Goldstein and myself. It contains 32 chapters written by authors from across the world. We met with Brian and some of the authors in Washington DC at the ASHA convention last week - then with Kate in Australia today. We have benefited from the excellent copy editing from Mark Filmer at CSU. Nearly finished.

Multilingual Aspects of Children's Speech Sounds

 During January we received most of the chapters for our edited book "Multilingual Aspects of Children's Speech Sounds - Second Edition". Helen Blake, Kate Margetson and I spent most of today working through the chapters, reviewing them and planning feedback to the authors. The content is fantastic - and shows the huge growth of knowledge and resources - as well as the change in professional practice over the decade since the first edition was published.

Mentoring group - Editing a book

I have held regular mentoring meetings with two groups of colleagues to work on developing book proposals, then editing books as part of our Early Childhood Interdisciplinary Research Group (ECIR). Our Springer book group met today (Sheena Elwick, Shukla Sikder, Lysa Dealtry) and our Multilingual Matters book group have just had their proposal accepted and we are about to meet to discuss the proposed contract from the publisher.

Developing a proposal for the second edition of Multilingual Aspects of Speech Sound Disorders in Children

We have been invited to develop a proposal for the second edition of our book published by Multilingual Matters. Here are the details of the first edition:

Today Helen Blake, Kate Margetson and I worked on the proposal. We are recommending a slight change in the title to "Multilingual Aspects of Children's Speech Sounds (2nd ed.)" as well as a comprehensive update. The first edition was last published in 2012 - and there has been a lot of new research conducted since this time.
