 Our Children's Advisory Group is so creative!

 

Theme: Creating a more inclusive world for children
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to answer these 6 impossible questions. Each one comes with its own challenges, and your answers will all come together to make an amazing video! Remember, the fate of this children’s advisory group contribution to the CVC2026 conference is in your hands!
The answers will be recorded on the top tier spy cameras (the ones that are built into your parent’s smart phones) in a landscape format (parents, please film the videos horizontally not vertically). It will then be sent to mission control (my house), where it will be thoroughly analysed and compiled into a spectacular collaborative video message before the big day arrives!
Here are your 6 impossible tasks:
•    What is your name, what country are you on, and one thing about you?
•    What does creating a more inclusive world for children mean?
•    When do you feel included?
•    What makes you feel like you are not included?
•    What have you/others done in the past to make people feel included?
•    What do you think children/grown-ups need to do to make sure everyone is included?
•    Why does it matter to you to be part of the children’s advisory group and to contribute to informing the work of the government in Australia and the work of governments and organisations around the world (like the World Health Organization and the United Nations)?
These answers are due by the 18th of August 2026 (18/8/26), please send them to xxx

Children Draw Belonging: Children's insights

It has been a very special week with my young friends who have had such an influence on my research and how I listen to children. In the past, this group of children have initiated and shaped our research projects: Children Draw Talking, Children Draw Playing and  Children Draw Health. Today they participated in the Children Draw Belonging research. This is the first project that they have not initiated (this time another group of children initiated it). They had some good insights. I love learning from these children.

Two weeks ago (20-24 October 2025) I was honoured to share your recommendations to everyone at the World Health Organization meeting in Fiji. The Western Pacific Regional Committee Meeting represented 2.2 billion people since it includes the world’s largest country (China) and smallest country (Niue with 2000 people).

Children Draw Health: Children's advisory group week 3

Each Wednesday in September our Children Draw Health Advisory Group are considering the 125 drawings from 20 countries we have received in our research. They are thinking about what the children of the world have shared. During weeks 1 and 2 they analysed the drawings to determine themes (e.g., food, doctors, hospitals, rainbows, friends, workout and sports).

This week they each drew a picture of a body and mind on three pieces of paper. 

Then they added words into the bodies and minds to answer 

*Who helps your body and mind be healthy?  

*Where do you go to help your body and mind be healthy?  

 *What do you do to help your body and mind be healthy?  

They then had to find the words who, where and what around The Treehouse - and share their answers.

 

We concluded the day with playing a reindeer herding game and skipping.

Each Wednesday in September our Children Draw Health Advisory Group are considering the 100+ drawings from 17 countries we have received in our research. This week we continued to consider themes and answers to these questions:

1. What makes you healthy? 
2. Who helps you be healthy? 
3. Where do you go to get healthy? 
4. What would your ideal healthcare setting look like?

Children Draw Health: Children's advisory group week 1

Each Wednesday in September our Children Draw Health Advisory Group are considering the 100+ drawings from 17 countries we have received in our research. They are thinking about what the children of the world have shared. They analysed a sample of drawings to determine themes (food, doctors, hospitals, rainbows, friends, workout and sports), added their own ideas and came up with the following themes and answers to these questions:

1. What makes you healthy? Doctors, food, hospitals, Workout and sports
2. Who helps you be healthy? Mom, Dad, friends, doctors, hospital, therapist
3. Where do you go to get healthy? Hospital, doctor
4. What would your ideal healthcare setting look like? Rainbows, friends, nature
