Impact - ContinuEd is offering textbook training using our book

We just received the following email from our publishers - Paul H. Brookes.

"ContinuEd, an online continuing education unit (CEU) platform, is planning to offer a Textbook training for Interventions for Speech Sound Disorders in Children, Second Edition on speechpathology.com. Speech-langauge pathology (SLP) subscribers will take a 10-question test on the book and earn American Speech-Lanuage-Hearing Association (ASHA) CEUs if they pass."

SACHL micro-credential/short course

Today Dr Kate Margetson and I met with the CSU  team led by Nik Ichalkaranje to start the process of the development of a micro-credential and short course for the SACHL

Assessing Multilingual Children's Speech in their Home Languages - Professional Development Events online at CSU

This week Kate Margetson is running three free professional development events titled "Assessing Multilingual Children's Speech in their Home Languages" as part of our Rural Health Research Institute Grant. We have asked participants to complete a 10 minute questionnaire as part of the free event to provide us with information about current work with multilingual children and to give us feedback on the clinical feasibility and applicability of our new evidence-based approach to support multilingual children's speech titled Speech Assessment in Children's Home Languages (SACHL). 502 people registered - and 348 enthusiastic people attended the sessions.

CSU Higher Degree Research Students - Research Central

One of my PhD students has been offered a place in Research Central over the first half of 2023. Here are the details: 

Research Central is run by Adroit Research, an online community of practice for Graduate Research Candidates. This virtual online community aims to complement the support that CSU provides, adding to it with self-paced courses on doing systematic literature reviews, data collection, data analysis and writing up. 

As a participant of Research Central, you will have the opportunity to join up to 4 hours of interactive sessions per week, including a 1-hour Masterclass, a 1-hour Ask Me Anything session with experienced academic Faculty, and a 2-hour Shut up & Write session (see schedule attached). These sessions are designed around promoting a positive mindset, motivation and accountability in research. You will be able to interact and connect with other researchers. The community is designed for regular interaction and meeting other students also on their research journey.

Impromptu professional development in Balranald

Today while I was in Balranald (which is over a 7 hour drive from my home) I happened to meet Emelia Bett (the local speech pathologist) and Kellie Hodgson (her aide). We had an enjoyable time discussing some of the children that they are working with and brainstorming ideas for their speech intervention. It is so great to see speech pathology in rural schools in NSW - something that is not common in my state.
