I have just received an invitation to speak in Vietnam later this year at the Ha Noi National University of Education 25 year celebration in conjunction with UNICEF. Congratulations to my colleagues as they celebrate this significant achievement.

Today I was invited to speak to participants in the FoAE Internal Grant Writing Program 2024 in the session titled Submitting your grant focusing on Tips & Tricks for Creating an Academic CV. The FoAE Internal Grant Writing Program includes practical guidance, expert mentoring and strategic advice to write a full draft internal grant proposal for the Faculty Early Career Research (ECR) Scheme (or a similar small grant). The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Academic Affairs & Research Education Team have invited me to host a table on “Engaging in International Research Collaborations” at the Research Roundtables during the 2024 ASHA Convention (Friday, December 6, 2024). They have invited Dr. Giang Pham from San Diego State University to co-host the table with me and Dr Helen L. Blake and Dr Kate Margetson to attend as my collaborators. I have enjoyed this role a few years ago at an ASHA convention - so look forward to participating again.

I have been invited to write a paper for RPTF - Revista Portuguesa de Terapia da Fala [Portuguese Journal of Speech and Language Therapy] https://www.aptf-rptf.com/. I will work with Helen Blake and Kate Margetson and base it on my keynote presentations in Portugal in 2023 and 2024.
In my Foreword I wrote:
To date, there have been few tools available to speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to assess young children’s emerging speech skills. The Profiles of Early Expressive Phonological Skills™ (PEEPS) has been designed for young children (18–36 months of age) who have small vocabularies and limited inventories of speech sounds. The PEEPS™ is a unique evidence-based speech assessment and is a welcome addition to SLPs’ almost empty toolboxes for young children. The word list has been carefully selected using the authors’ extensive knowledge of young children’s vocabularies and emerging speech skills and children can enjoy the process of naming toys during “play” (i.e., assessment). The PEEPS™ profile is a “multilayered description of a child’s phonological system” (p. 5) that enables SLPs to gain an overview of children’s strengths and identify “warning signs” or “red flags for phonetic and phonological development” (p. 68).
The authors of the PEEPS™ are eminent authorities on children’s speech and have undertaken extensive research that underpins their conceptualization and operationalization of this unique tool. They have spent more than 15 years developing the PEEPS™ and the world has been waiting. The PEEPS™ has proven value for working with young children, including those with cleft lip and palate (Scherer et al., 2012).
I was very welcomed by the Félag talmeinafræðinga á Íslandi https://www.talmein.is/ [Speech Therapy Association of Iceland]. I really enjoyed meeting speech therapists and students. Marie Ireland also joined us from the Unitted States. One new graduate (Ösp) even brought her book for me to sign!

I have been invited to be on a focus group to work with Speech Pathology Australia on their new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion framework.
Here is the invitation Over the past 12 months, Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) has been working with Diversity Partners to develop a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) framework. The framework will include the commitments and aspirations of Speech Pathology Australia to support diversity, equity and inclusion across the profession. The framework will guide and support Speech Pathology Australia with future implementation of DEI initiatives, as well as providing guidance to members to increase their understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion issues within the speech pathology profession and inform practice. Initial consultation with key stakeholders was undertaken in 2022 and an advisory committee was formed to support the project planning. Diversity Partners undertook a literature review and have drafted the structure of a DEI framework for Speech Pathology Australia. Diversity Partners will now hold focus group discussions with key groups, including internal stakeholders and staff and external stakeholders, to gather feedback on the draft and to inform next steps. We are seeking your input by requesting you consider attending a focus group.
